MISO Interconnection at American Transmission Company’s Cypress Substation
RMT'S ROLE:
- Engineering, procurement, and construction of civil and electrical system BOP
- Construction of 20 miles of access roads, 5 acres of laydown yard, 10,000 feet of directional boring, 250,000 feet of underground collector trenches
- Spread-footer foundations, poured in-place concrete construction with steel reinforcement
- 345 kV/34.5 kV substation and interconnection
- Construction of operations and maintenance building
- Fiber optics communication and SCADA network
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
- Successfully managed construction and equipment delivery logistics throughout harsh Wisconsin winter weather conditions
- Satisfied a first-time wind farm utility customer in a highly regulated arena
- Provided ongoing energy, environmental, and
economic benefits:
- Generates enough electricity to power approximately 38,100 homes annually
- Offsets the combustion of approximately 198,000 tons of coal per year, which reduces the equivalent of 261,000 tons of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere annually
- Creates additional income from tax revenues, benefi ting both local and state coffers
- Provides income to local landowners through annual lease payments
