RMT'S ROLE:

  • Engineer and general contractor for electrical system
  • Underground collector system and wind farm substation
  • Responsible for all electric operations, preventive maintenance, routine emergency service

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • First wind farm construction in Kansas
  • Mitigated critical risks associated with voltage control issues
  • Worked around and through 9-11 transportation shut down and disruption
  • Successfully coordinated power interconnection with the GCWF substation and the Aquila (later West Plains) 115 kV line
  • Provided ongoing energy, environmental, and economic benefits:
    • Generates enough electricity to power approximately 33,146 homes annually
    • Offsets the combustion of approximately 153,169 tons of coal per year, which reduces the equivalent of 201,600 tons of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere annually
    • Provides income to local landowners through annual lease payments
