RMT'S ROLE:
- Engineer and general contractor for electrical system
- Underground collector system and wind farm substation
- Responsible for all electric operations, preventive maintenance, routine emergency service
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
- First wind farm construction in Kansas
- Mitigated critical risks associated with voltage control issues
- Worked around and through 9-11 transportation shut down and disruption
- Successfully coordinated power interconnection with the GCWF substation and the Aquila (later West Plains) 115 kV line
- Provided ongoing energy, environmental, and
economic benefits:
- Generates enough electricity to power approximately 33,146 homes annually
- Offsets the combustion of approximately 153,169 tons of coal per year, which reduces the equivalent of 201,600 tons of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere annually
- Provides income to local landowners through annual lease payments
